No one likes a bragger. Let's face it, when people brag it can make things uncomfortable, and you tend to want to stay away from people like that. Dictionary.com defines the verb brag as to boast or vaunt--not cool.
Take for instance one of my husband's friends, we will call him James. James is a bragger. He talks constantly about how awesome he is at his job and about all of his praise that his boss gives him. James also loves to talk about money. Well, not just money in general but his money. I know more about his banks accounts and the money in them than I know about my own....
I am not like most people. I am constantly connected to the outside world. My phone, my tablet, and my laptop are typically within an arm's reach no matter where I happen to be. It is just so convenient for me to have all of these things on hand. Now, I know that there are other people like me who stay connected constantly, but there are some people who are worse off than I and these always connected people are. Some people are actually addicted to the internet.
The world loves viral video. There's something compelling about an amusing bit of footage that catches on in a big way, prompting millions of people all over the planet to share the happiness. For marketers, viral video is a goldmine waiting to be tapped. The problem is, no one can predict whether any kind of video ad will go viral, and despite all the best laid plans, the jury is still out as to what leads people to send-send-send certain viral videos around.
Do Face book users care about their privacy? Well sure, everyone does. But some people care more than others, and the truth of the matter is, Facebook has one of the slackest set of options for controlling the privacy of users' personal information. There are almost no options to keep certain information available only to limited "friends," since Mark Zuckerberg doesn't like the idea of organizing and categorizing friends into segregated groups. Not good for Face book and privacy. That's nice, Mark, that you don't like that -- but many social networkers would actually prefer some level of control...
Netflix, the premier streaming video service that has changed the way we watch movies at home seems, now appears to be primed for a major tumble off the top of the home video mountain. This is both unfortunate, and inevitable, since all good things must come to an end. (Well, actually, no they mustn't, but dangerous and poor choices can lead a company in that direction quickly enough. Netflix right now is a prime example.)
Remember less than 10 years ago when, if you wanted to watch a movie at home, you either had to buy a copy or pick one up at a rental store like Blockbuster Video?...
And Other Internet Features
The latest buzzword on the internet is social networking. There are more social networking websites available than ever before. Why are they out there? These sites offer help on topics such as improving lifestyles, helping a person find a job, or fun activity groups. Social networking is a great way to meet new people of similar background and tastes.
While social networking is just one area surrounding the social media trend, there are other internet happenings such as the blog rolls. Many people are taking to the web to voice their opinions through a web phenomenon...
Let's Make A New One!
Earlier this week, it was revealed by Fox News and other news sources that the former chief of the United States' CIA felt it was a good idea to make a second internet of sorts to help ensure cybersecurity. The internet came into existence due to work by the United States government and educational institutions.
Well, that went well. After gaining popularity, making millions of people rich quick (unless that poorly written email was lying) and selling billions of dollars in 'marital aids', a second internet network, creatively titled Internet 2 was formed. Internet 2 is a network...
